1. Familiarity over New Technology. I admit, I’m lazy when it comes to learning new technology. The same reason why I’ve never owned a mobile phone that is NOT Nokia. (Sony Ericson and Motorola phones make me lost.) As I’ve used Windows my whole life, getting myself used to a new OS is something I seriously have to think about.
2. Software compatibility. They say softwares compatible to Mac are hard to find, and a bit more expensive too. I’m a software rat. I try all sorts of programs, even when I don’t need them, anyway, I can always uninstall. I can’t imagine not being able to do this with my laptop.
3. Control Functions. Right now, I don’t use a mouse with my laptop. I’m a shortcut person. I overuse shortcuts and control functions (i.e. CTRL-V, CTRL-C, CTRL-X), especially when photoshop-ing. Truth be told, the first time I played around with a friend’s macbook, I freaked out when I couldn’t use the control functions. Macbook has a special key for this purpose. In connection, the macbook’s keyboard is far from the regular ones I use since gradeschool. (No backspace too, just delete, I hear?)
4. No Right Click. I’m a right-click person too. Heh. I right-click icons all the time. I righ-click words and images. I right-click everything. With Mac’s touchpad, there’s only one button, and you have to press another key with it if you want the right-click function. Hate it.
5. I don’t have a car. LOL. I just find it risky to ride jeepneys carrying a macbook (and say, my Nikon D40) around. But okay. Not like this really matters.
My reasons are shallow, I know. I guess that means, me buying a Macbook is negotiable and still possible. Let me tell you more about that later. ![]()

Those reasons make sense! Feeling ko kung Mac yung laptop ko I’ll be spending more time learning how to operate it than actually working. But if someone gives me a Macbook, then sure why not! wehehe. I guess kelangan lng tlga maging patient para matutunan sya. It’s like moving to another country and adapting a whole new culture.

*Apir!* I’ve been tempted to buy a Mac pero iniisip ko parang hindi ko magagamit. Even if it runs on Intel na, and I can install Windows…ayaw pa rin. Sure it looks nice…pero I can’t sacrifice my time to learn it pa, when I can get a PC na sanay na ako.
And on the no right click! Haha pareho tayo!
I remember the first time I used a Powerbook, I was so confused that I had to get my friend who owned it to tell me how to use it. I’ve never been embarrassed in front of a computer in my whole life until then. ^^;
Then again…maybe it’s also because I’m an IBMer that’s why I’m partial to PCs.
But like Joni, if someone gives me a MacBook, why not. But I’d buy a PC over it anytime.

Just stumbled across this post. I’m not a huge mac fan but I do have a powerbook from the company I work for.
I’m sure it isn’t the most important reason for not getting a macbook but to let you and other non-mac right clickers know, you can also right click by clicking with two fingers at the same time on the touchpad - quite useful indeed!

I’m sure the main reason you’re not saying is that Macs are expensive. But that’s what you’re working on, right?

YEHEY! hahaha
yung mac ni Ping, defective na yung button, nakaka-annoy na gamitin kasi minsan pindot ka na nang pindot, ayaw pa rin! tsk. I’m a right-click girl too so I’ll say, either keep what you have now or go Vaio! it’s the best by far!

I own two IBM thinkpads T43 & T61, but to my curiosity I like to try a macbook. I’m planning nga to swap one of my IBM with a macbook. At least maiba naman and its a new frontier for me since I have been a Windows user all my life.

To right click on a Mac, just rest two fingers on the trackpad when you press the button. It’s actually a lot easier than having two buttons. Or you could buy a mouse with a right button.

Actually, the control function is a rip-off of Apple’s original Command key (or the APPLE key). So you’ll find the same functionality in the MacBook, but instead of hitting CONTROL-V to paste, it’s COMMAND-V. Apple came up with that one years before the PCs and their bloated crap called windows.
Congratulations for switching from the dark side… enjoy.
