With the nofollow tag becoming more and more popular, techniques that used to work don't carry as much value these days. But strangely I've noticed a lot of PR 0 sites appearing in high competition sites (in the top 10 along with PR5 and PR6 sites).
Something funky is going on at Google these days... they seem to be focusing a lot more on on page optimization. One guy copied a wikipedia page over to squidoo and suddenly ranked only 2 results down from the original site. Definitely unusual.Link building has always been a chore for me.
