I Was There at the Blogger Bag Launch

I was invited to the exclusive launch of Timbukt2’s Blogger Bag here in the Philippines last Friday, along with a few bloggers at the Outback Restaurant, Glorietta. It was an interesting event, and an interesting BAG indeed — after all, no one has ever seen a bag that was designed for bloggers before.

Although, I would have to agree with Lauren in her very objective post (ha!) that the bag is perhaps, improperly labeled as we, bloggers, don’t need a specialized bag anyway. Most of the bloggers I know don’t even have laptops. And well, professional bloggers are mostly home-based too. So what’s the point? I shall not reiterate what Lauren has said on her blog already, so just go over there coz some of my thoughts reflect what she already said. :D (Uh, why was I invited in this launch again?)

But I also have to say, that it’s pretty interesting (right, “interesting” is the word of the day) to have a line of bags named after and designed for bloggers. This only goes to show that, indeed, the blogging community has evolved into one big online market that the media, the society, and some companies have started to recognize. How many million blogs are there again? They mentioned it during the presentation — I forgot how many, but there’s definitely a lot. So what could be the next product for bloggers? Shirts? Laptops? The possibilities are limitless.

So, here, you see, is the widely-talked-about Blogger Bag. You can view full product specs here.

I think, however, that the Blogger Bag is a bit too bulky for me. And wooot, they don’t have it in PINK. (Bummer!) But not to fully disappoint female bloggers, Timbuk2 also has some bags designed for women that are pretty nice. I like the Marina Computer Bag and I probably won’t have second thoughts buying one if it’s available in other colors besides that yellowgreen-ish shade. Or if the Rumor Day Pack is available in pink. And I sure hell won’t mind if that Void Day Pack (which had a shade of pink, by the way) that was given away in the raffle landed on my hands, instead of Anton’s. Grr.

I’m actually kind of looking for a laptop bag, as I don’t have one yet. I only bought a slip-on case so that I can put my Acer in whatever bag I have. I still haven’t found what I’ve been looking for. Timbuk2’s bags are great, and they have specific details that you mostly won’t find in other gadget/laptop bags. I mean, seriously, if that cute Timbuk2 guy, Jose Tanada, took more time talking to me about stuff besides bags (you know, about his future plans, or what he loves doing, or if he has a girlfriend and stuff like that LOL), I probably would have given in. Hehe. Too bad.

Seriously though, the “girly” look for a laptop bag that I’ve been imagining in my head — I haven’t exactly found yet. The Void Day Pack comes close, though.

Over-all, it was a fun event as I’ve gotten to spend time with other bloggers — Jayvee, Lauren, Miss Noemi — and got to know new ones as well — Luis, Anton, Shari, AJ, among others. And *sigh* there was Jose the Bag Guy (right, I mentioned him already). Good thing he doesn’t blog. LOL. (But just in case you happened to land here, Jose.. uhm, Hi!)

Aight. I think that’s it. There goes the Blogger Bag for you. Know more about other Timbuk2 bags here.

Hot Pink Fifa Cup Lanyard

It came! It finally came! :)

I’ve been looking around for this for a while. I was actually going to order from Shopaholic’s, but they ran out of stock too fast. So when I heard from a friend that she knows someone who’s still selling Fifa Cup Lanyards, I didn’t let it pass. I had to order a hot pink one right there and then.

So yesterday, my very own Hot Pink Fifa Cup Lanyard was handed over to me, finally. I lurve it! Yay! :)

I know it’s an unnecessary piece of blah, and it costs a bit too much for a lanyard — 300 PHP (about $7). But whatcanIsay, I had to have it. I just had to. :p

It says “SPIELERFRAU on it, by the way, and just now I learned what it means: “Player’s Wife“. Even more YAY. Haha. I am soo spoiled.

So okaay. Hot pink fifa lanyard, check. Pink Havaianas, check. Up next.. either that pink Creative Zen player I saw at Cyberzone, or a pair of pink low-cut Chuck Taylors, which I’ve been putting off for a long time already. (Yep, I can’t wait ’til THAT uncertain wedding day anymore.)

Oh. And there’s that pink digital camera I’ve been sooo wanting to have. Gargh. So much for my budget.

Blogger Template Design Project 1

I made my first blogger template after a long while, and this one’s for Miss Cathy Sanchez-Babao (nope, we’re not related) of Midlife Mysteries.

It’s been a while since I last did a blog layout for someone, and well, it was definitely refreshing and nerve-wrecking at the same time for the designer wannabe in me. I blogged my thoughts about this project on the other blog, check it out.

I used to make Blogger layouts for friends, but that was a long time ago when CSS was still alien, and tables are the in-thing. Now, the new Blogger system is too complex for me, gaah, and while it’s frustrating, I’ve come to admit that I’m not cut out for it anymore. I mean, I just don’t have time anymore to sit down and master CSS, like Joni the Wordpress guru. I can, however, do blog headers (such as this one I made for Midlife Mysteries) and modify existing themes.

So, say, if that’s what you need, a hired help to modify the look of your Blogger/Blogspot, holler at me and maybe we can work something out. ;)

On another note, notice my new blog header? Well, no, this didn’t evolve to a Beauty Blog overnight. It’s still my geek blog, yup, and no, I have no intention writing about make ups and eyeliners and stuff, and the only MAC I intend on blogging about is that which is made by Apple.

I guess I just need a change of look, even for a bit. This blog’s been gathering dusts and cobwebs. About time I start filling this up with more pinkness again. :)
