Fender’s Hello Kitty Series

June 10, 2007

We all grew up thinking that this kitty cat’s only made for toys and cutesy accessories and stationeries. It turns out, however, that Sanrio, the creator of Hello Kitty, is not stopping this kitty from going wherever the wind blows her.

Posting about the recently launched Hello Kitty laptop reminded me of Fender’s Hello Kitty series that was released about a year ago. Now this one’s more like it. :)

I used to have this on my wish list, next to some Daisy Rock items. This Hello Kitty Stratocaster (above) is based on the classic Stratocaster design, with Hello Kitty’s face forming the pickguard. Plus it comes in prettyful colors of pink and black.

Visiting the site again after a year, I see that Fender has added this supercute acoustic series to their purr-fect Hello Kitty designs, the Hello Kitty Dreadnought.

I wonder though.. if you use a Hello Kitty guitar to perform in a rock concert or a band gig, would people take you seriously, or would it look like you brought a toy? :P Having Hello Kitty all over your guitar, I think, could make you look either really cool or out of place. Then again, Lisa Loeb endorses it, just as she did the Daisy Rock guitars. That should count for something.

Above all else let me just say that, I’m glad these Fender Hello Kitty guitars don’t have swarovski crystals all over them. :P

Visit the official Fender Hello Kitty site here. :)
