I’m keeping my fingers crossed. This Ituloy Angsulong keyword ranking contest is coming to an end, and I can’t help but feel a mix of tension, and relief, and excitement, and pride, all at the same time.
Tension because I’m still doing my best to hold on to a rank that may change in 2 days time. Relief because this will all soon be over. Excitement because, just as the rest of them, I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone–after all, we’re all winners, right? And Pride because I’m at peace that as early as NOW, my mission has been accomplished.
After all, my mission was NOT to win, BUT to learn. NOT to make a name for myself (I don’t care if people will be calling me PINKSEO, and not my real name, hehe), BUT to prove that we too, the female populace, has a place in an industry (such as this) that’s been infested by men.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against the men of SEO Philippines. I actually think we have some of the world’s best SEO gurus–if only the world would take time to see. (After all, I was mentored, by a man, no less, hehe). It’s just that, seeing more men in the forums, and in the industry (even though there are more women than men in this world), makes me wonder where all the female SEOs have gone.
If tonight was the Awardings Night, three women would have already taken home more than some cash prize, but honor and recognition too.
There’s Tigersquash who’s got a lovely design to boot–already nomiated for Best in Design. And then there’s Miss Janette Toral, who currently ranks #4 over at Yahoo–I’d love to hear what she did, ranking at Yahoo has become one of my greatest frustrations in this pursuit. We did it, ladies. Cheers to all of us female participants of this contest. Ituloy Angsulong! See ya all on Friday. :)
